Scientific background

I completed my bachelor’s degree in Biology and Medical Research at Breda University of Applied Sciences, specializing in patient-oriented research. During this time, I gained additional hands-on experience through two internships: the validation of a Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) panel for diagnostic purposes and the optimization of an in vivo model for a specific kidney condition. After obtaining my bachelor’s degree, I pursued a master’s in Medical Biology with a specialization in Human Biology at Radboud University in Nijmegen. My master’s internship research projects focused on the development of transformed breast cancer cell lines and the generation of an iPSC-derived model for eczema. Following my studies, I looked for a position that combined iPSC culture with an intriguing research topic, leading me to the Department of Human Genetics at Radboudumc, where I joined the group of Dr. Alex Garanto and Dr. Rob Collin as a research technician.

Hobbies outside science

In my spare time, I enjoy playing hockey, a sport I’ve loved for over 15 years. I also like playing games, whether it’s board games or video games, both with friends and/or on my own. Additionally, I love traveling and exploring new places, always looking for the next destination to discover.
