Scientific background

During my bachelor’s program in Biomedical Sciences at Leiden University, I became even more amazed by the human body. Curious about the underlying processes of the interesting things that I learnt, I decided to delve deeper in the master’s program Molecular Mechanisms of Diseases at Radboud University. I initially focussed on infectious diseases in my internships, for example a project of 8 months on immunomodulation by schistosomes at the McGill University in Montréal. Being intrigued by more translational approaches, I decided to join Dr. Rob Collin’s lab. In my PhD project, I investigate novel therapeutic options for inherited retinal diseases during my PhD project.

Hobbies outside science

I love to spend my free time by reading books, playing ukelele, playing board games, and trying out new recipes. I also like to be outdoors, where you can find me rowing, hiking, ice skating, or travelling.
